‘FURY’ RONA TIER II ALTERNATE FATES LORE

Read Part I: ‘Maaaaaagie!’

“Gimme some love, Maggie” whispered Rona through tight-grit teeth, eyes narrowed at the wide grub-face staring her down from the smashed-out rat rod window. It was the Heap Boss himself, dressed in his trademark law uniform, badge shining on his lapel, fat gun propped in his meaty fists and Rona’s scary toothful grin reflected in his aviators. Under her right foot, a melted tire wiggled; she hunkered down, every muscle in her legs taut. Magpie’s beefy finger squeezed the trigger. She stared at his hairy bicep inflating past the torn confines of his starchy dress blues ’til the trigger clicked. Rona jumped over the blast, belly front, the shell leaving a burning kiss on her left thigh. She landed with a slam on the roof of the rat rod, machetes piercing straight down through rust, upholstery, skin and skull.

Magpie’s people poked up their makeshift helmets from the rubble, rifles nestled in shoulders, rocks in slingshots, hard grips on knives while their boss burbled out his last. No sounds but birds chirping while Rona pulled the machetes back up with a metal-on-metal squeeeeeeeeeee. Standing straight, grinning that scary toothful way, brains dribbling off her blades to splat on her boots, she surveyed the Churnguard Junkheap.

“Hallo popinjays,” she sang out. What had been Magpie’s lackeys looked at one another, then back at her. They had a good lock on her, could’ve got her down in a half-breath, but Rona screamed, “Maggie’s found his final slumber-place at the busy end of my machetes. Rules are rules. You’re my psycho-fants now!” She grabbed the badge from Magpie’s lapel and showed it around. “Your daddy was happy hoarding rubbish, but I’m gonna pretty this club up! There’s gonna be inculcations! There’s gonna be organizations! There’s gonna be spankings! We’re not gonna be satisfied with the Junkheap. We’re gonna take over Churnguard Industries!” One machete swung out sideways, pointing far off to the barbed wire-surrounded ruins of the military complex. “Witness!”

“Boss Mom!” cried one of them as Magpie’s bulk crumpled and bled out the rat rod door. “Boss Mom!” cried another, and then a hundred voices yelled out for the new Heap Boss as they crowded in close, spiriting her down the tunnels to the Club.

‘NORTH WIND’ REIM TIER I ALTERNATE FATES LORE

After he buried his son, Reim was given the draught of forgetting so he would not die. He spent years after wandering. He walked at the edge of senselessness and had no mind for day or night. He paced the mage tower, then the city, and then his feet took him to a ship full of traders and explorers and swollen-gummed pirates. He paced that ship and would have paced into the jaws of the sea, but a voice in the water forbade him.

When they docked at the mouth of the freezing Kalls, he paced off of the ship and wandered into the glaciers, following old Grangor hunting paths. Without seasons or mirrors, a generation passed outside his awareness. He wandered so long that his heart and mind and magic froze along with the terrain. He stopped only to sleep. When beasts attacked, ice fled from his fingertips and speared them, and he ate. Forward he strode, over glaciers and through mountain passes and inside caves of ice. He climbed, refusing to slide backward, knowing that behind him was a terror worse than death, though he could not remember what it was.

At the top of one such cave his path was blocked by a fort of stacked Grangor shields. Reim wrinkled his nose at the tangy scent of magic. With blank eyes he knocked the shields aside. Beyond the shields, a warrior in full leather armor laid on the ice. From inside the helmet he heard a muffled cry: “Help! I am trapped within this cursed armor. Release me and I shall reward you.”

He unstrapped the armor and found within it a Valkyrie. “Well isn’t that a thing,” he croaked, his voice long unused.

“My thanks, Mage,” said the Valkyrie. “In return, I shall take you to the hammer named Troll Bane and make it yours.”

Vainglory Summer esports: Introducing ‘The Evil 8’

  • Vainglory
  • |
  • Jun 28, 2016

Looking to apply for a Summer tournament? Visit vaingloryesports.com now.

In less than a year, Vainglory has exploded in competitive popularity, becoming the No. 1 touchscreen esport in the world. It has seen home-grown professional teams such as Hammers eSports and GankStars achieve championships and seen a wave of multi-sport professional organizations arrive, including Team Secret, G2 eSports, SK Gaming, Mousesports and Team SoloMid. And most recently, Super Evil Megacorp inked a three-year, multi-million dollar partnership with Twitch to expand Vainglory as an esport while announcing that esports fans had watched 150 million minutes of Vainglory on Twitch in 2015.

It’s crazy to think not long ago, Vainglory didn’t even have a spectator mode — much less having tournaments on Korean television or selling out a packed Hollywood venue for a Live Championship event.

And now, thanks to the amazing support of the Vainglory Community, we’re ready to kick off a new esports structure that reflects our rapid growth. Playing off our company name, we’re calling it the ‘Evil 8,’ part of the Vainglory Summer Season presented by Amazon Appstore.

INTRODUCING ‘THE EVIL 8’ & ‘CHALLENGERS’ LEAGUES

The Evil 8 takes the top eight teams in North America and Europe respectively and separates them into a new Vainglory league. These teams will play each other in eight-team tournaments each weekend of Summer season, accumulating points. Parallel to this league, all other Vainglory competitive teams will play in community Challengers, run during Summer by independent organizations VGL and VIS. Challengers will play 32-team bracket tournaments each Tuesday/Wednesday with an application process and format that teams are used to from prior seasons.

twitch_infographic

The benefits for players and fans of the Summer esports structure are immense:

  • The region’s best teams will play each other much more often, giving viewers on a weekly basis the match quality and excitement they’ve come to expect only from the end-of-season Live Championships.
  • New and developing teams will no longer run into a “Quarterfinals brick wall” where they’re virtually guaranteed to lose upon being matched against an experienced pro org.
  • By clearing out the top eight, many more teams will be able to win whole tournaments, which is critical to team maturation, growth and earning prize money!

CHALLENGE BATTLES

That said, teams who prove their quality week after week will not be limited to only playing in Challengers. At midseason and near end-of season, we’ll hold high-stakes Challenge Battles where the top three teams in Challengers (based on points earned in Challengers tournaments) will battle the bottom three teams from the Evil 8 (based on Evil 8 points standings) in head-to-head best-of-five showdowns. If the Challenger team wins, they knock the Evil 8 team into Challengers and assume their spot in the Top 8 league.

‘EVIL 8’ SPLITS

The Evil 8 season will be broken up into two splits. At the end of each split will be a Challenge Battle. Evil 8 points are wiped out after Split 1, so a Challenger team entering Split 2 is at no disadvantage whatsoever in the second half of the Evil 8 season.

SUMMER LIVE CHAMPIONSHIPS

There are two paths to qualifying for the Summer Live Championships:

  • Evil 8 teams that finish in the top five of Split 2 are guaranteed a spot.
  • End-of-season Challenge Battle winners (whether from bottom three of Evil 8 or top three of Challengers) are guaranteed a spot.

After the end-of-season Challenge Battles will be a “Seeding Week,” which will give any newly promoted teams an opportunity to improve their championship tournament seed. The combined points from Evil 8 Split 2 and Seeding Week will determine the final Summer Live Championship seeding.

WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS

The first-ever official Vainglory World Championships will happen during Autumn season, featuring the world’s best 12 teams based on region and performance over the past esports year.

HOW TO PARTICIPATE IN THE VGL & VIS ‘CHALLENGERS’ LEAGUE

  • Go to vaingloryesports.com every week during Summer season to apply for the upcoming 32-team bracket tournament.
  • You do not have to track whether VGL or VIS is operating that week; simply go to vaingloryesports.com where there will be a very clear APPLY NOW button for the next week of play.
  • Be sure to apply each week by entering your in-game team! Playing during Week 1 does not guarantee a spot in future tournaments.
  • Selections for each 32-team tournament will be based on the Ranked player rating of the top three players of each in-game team, plus past performance as a secondary criteria. (This is the same criteria used in past seasons.) While VGL and VIS Challenger tournaments will be run independently, SEMC/Twitch will solely handle all team selections based on the criteria above as an extra service to help ensure the most accurate, informed selections possible.

WHERE TO WATCH

All ‘Evil 8’ broadcasts can be watched on twitch.tv/vainglory. Challengers will be broadcasted on VGL and VIS channels. Stay tuned for a full Summer season schedule and broadcast listings.

lyra_splash

NEW ROAM HERO: LYRA

Lyra uses healing and protective magic to turn enemy positions into powerful zones for her allies. Utility and defense items improve her role as a healer, while crystal items provide a devastating-but-fragile mage path.

LYRA EARLY-ACCESS PERIOD

Lyra will be unlockable with ICE only for the first 7 days. Afterward, you will be able to unlock her with ICE or Glory.

header_features_new

Lyra_Ability_Icons_perk_squarePrinciple Arcanum (Heroic Perk)

Lyra’s attacks are arcane missiles, dealing crystal damage. If she holds her ground after releasing an attack, she automatically channels and releases a much stronger arcane missile that deals additional crystal damage and briefly slows its target. Each channeled missile consumes energy, but Lyra can continue using these even if she runs out of energy.

Lyra_Ability_Icons_A1Imperial Sigil (A)

Lyra forms a sigil at the target location, revealing surrounding enemies. While this sigil remains active, it heals nearby allied heroes and damages nearby enemy heroes. Lyra can reactivate this ability at any time to detonate the sigil, dealing heavy damage to surrounding enemies while providing a burst of healing and a moderate move speed boost to nearby allies.

Lyra_Ability_Icons_BBright Bulwark (B)

After a brief delay, Lyra releases a pulse of magical energy, damaging and applying a decaying slow to surrounding enemies. The affected area then becomes a walled zone of protection that deals the same damage and slow to enemies attempting to cross its borders. Enemies inside the zone are snared, allowing them to move normally but preventing them from using movement abilities.

Lyra_Ability_Icons_CArcane Passage (C)

Lyra blinks to the target location, leaving portals at both the beginning and the end of the blink. Portals last for a few seconds, allowing allied and enemy heroes to move freely between them in both directions. Heroes must wait several seconds before they can re-enter a portal. This cooldown is also applied to enemies when Lyra hits them with the initial pulse of Bright Bulwark.

NEW ITEMS COMING IN SUMMER UPDATE 1.19

The other major reason for more build flexibility is more item choice!

NEW CONTRACT ITEMS

With the introduction of Ambient Gold, Ironguard Contract is no longer a staple item for every roam build. Instead, a few early-game options have been introduced into the OTHER section in the item shop. These can grant a significant amount of power early on, or if you find the need for a small power boost at any given time for a fairly low cost, these new Contract items are fantastic options. However, keep in mind that none of these Contracts upgrades into anything, though they can be sold back for half the purchase cost.

Items_ironguard

IRONGUARD CONTRACT

Ironguard is now specifically geared toward coming out of the jungle with a bit more battle readiness and to keep both members of a jungle duo topped off to fend off invasions. While no longer a necessity, Ironguard still makes for a fantastic starting purchase.

  • Passive: When a nearby ally kills a jungle monster, you both heal for 75 health
    Range: 14m
  • Cost: 300 gold

Items_protector

Protector Contract

A much more defensive start, the Protector Contract allows you to protect your teammates — as long as you are close enough to do so. This is a fantastic purchase if you expect heavy aggression coming out from the opposing team or if you plan on team fighting early on.

  • Activate: Grant a 120 health barrier to the nearest ally hero for 2 seconds. 5s cooldown. 2 max charges, 20s per charge.
    Range: 8m
  • Cost: 300 gold

Items_dragonblood

Dragonblood Contract

The Dragonblood Contract supports early aggression and may allow you to dominate early on in a match; however, this initial advantage falls off very quickly. Having a fairly long recharge time and a fixed amount of damage, it is a great tool for early aggression and calculated ganks, but it is a good candidate to replace once mid-game rolls around.

  • Activate: After a brief delay, nearby enemy heroes are marked for 3 seconds. The next basic attack from an ally consumes the mark, slowing by 30% for 2s and dealing 75 bonus crystal damage. 15s cooldown. 2 max charges, 40s per charge.
    Range: 4m
  • Cost: 300 gold

NEW UTILITY ITEMS & REWORKS

stormguard-banner

Stormguard Banner

Stormguard Banner has been reworked to be a strong pickup for heroes who have weak wave/jungle clear abilities and for teams who intend to prioritize objective control over constantly battling the enemy team. However, this does come with the caveat that you will be giving up a significant amount of combat power.

CATHERINE

“Catherine is the perfect pick in many situations, but we want her to continue to pursue mercilessly, rather than run out of energy.” —Zekent

MERCILESS PURSUIT

  • Energy cost down from 40-50-60-70-100 to 40-50-60-70-80

STORMGUARD

  • Damage per second up from 35-45-55-65-90 to 40-55-70-85-100

BLAST TREMOR

  • Damage up from 370-495-620 to 375-500-625

SAW

“In 1.19, we made a change to SAW’s animations so that he moves more fluidly while spun up. Essentially, he continues to face his target while stutter stepping rather than rapidly turning back and forth, which looks much better. While this might throw people off at first, it’s almost purely a visual change and nothing about SAW’s stutter step timing has changed. Players will just need to mentally adjust to the new visual cues.” —AWAL

ANIMATIONS

  • SAW’s movement while Spun Up is more fluid. This appears different when stutter stepping.
  • Nothing about SAW’s stutter-step timing has changed.

BUG FIXES

  • Pinging a unit will no longer track them if you don’t have vision.
  • Taka’s Mortal Wounds will no longer stack with other instances of Mortal Wounds.
  • Tactical pings no longer appear for spectators.
  • Skaarf will no longer silence himself while channeling Dragon’s Breath
  • Skaarf no longer gains accidental armor and shield during Dragon’s Breath
  • Misc. performance improvements

‘The Consequence and The Inception’

After the destruction of Trostan, Lyra and Reim must return home…

Lyra_Lore1

On the muddy shore of Trostan, Lyra watched a Grangor search expedition wind their way through the ghost town, past the glowing blue well of power and up the glacier trail. For days they had sorted through the smoking rubble, rubbing ash away from the faces of the dead, hearts in their throats, but Samuel had not been found.

The old ice mage shuffled up beside her, leaning his weight on a staff, one bushy eyebrow raised. “No one’ll blame you if you don’t go back.”

Lyra didn’t hesitate. “I am Gythian.”

“Uh huh.” Reim made the blah-blah motion with one gnarled hand.

“It’s time,” she said.

Reim stretched out one arm; from his palm, a spinning ice ball formed. Lyra’s breath froze in her throat. Goosebumps rose on her arms. Frost leapt from Reim’s fingers; icicles formed on his beard; ice coated his staff and he slammed it into the mud. The ground shook as an ice spire shot up at the center of Trostan, spearing the sky, sealing the well.

“Your turn,” said Reim. “Shut it down.”

The spellbook blinked and fluttered open between her hands; the ancient words dropped from her mouth. The city’s magic borders scrolled away from the sky, fluttered in the air and returned to the book. Held back for decades, roiling clouds fled down from the peaks, flooding the destroyed city, releasing snow in fat flakes that blanketed the seared wreckage in blinding white.

The mages boarded the last of the ships. From the stern, Lyra hugged her spellbook to her chest and watched the expanse of her life’s work shrink away into the distance. It had begun as a frozen camp for miners, thieves and get-rich-quick schemes, but within Lyra’s protective barriers, it had become a pocket of color in desolate white. Gythian settlers had filled it with spires, sculpture, vegetation, legitimate trade and proper jurisprudence. The mage tower of Trostan, though a shadow of the one at home, had been all her own, its rounded walls lined with books and art, now ash.

~

Twenty years and some earlier, the view from the prow of the icebreaker ship, with its strengthened hull crunched up against what would soon be the port of Trostan, was of white and more white, sandwiched between a cruel gray sky and a choppy gray sea.

The fateswoman’s dour mouth twisted under her white hood as she dumped the divine doves out of their gilded cage without ceremony. When they flew into the masts, she proclaimed it a positive augur as she’d been paid to do. The reading of the fates mattered not at all to Lyra, but the surrounding ship decks were packed with lower-born citizens who would not have disembarked without a good augur. These explorers and miners had settled this forsaken and frozen area of the Kall Peaks, where only Grangor had roamed before crystal had been found. High above, on the ledges of the mountains, the cat-beasts themselves watched. If Lyra succeeded, more ships would follow from Gythia with future Trostanians: architects, merchants, artists, agriculturalists with their seedlings and livestock, more miners and equipment and shipbuilders, teachers and physicians for their children.

Lyra huddled under a red fur cape that would have commanded respect were it not soaking wet. Spring in the Kalls meant sleet, a sleet that slammed into the sea at such a volume that her speech about the glory of the empire and hope for a future of affluence was abandoned.

Never before had so many eyes laid upon her. Never before had so much responsibility rested on her shoulders. Never before had she wished for failure.

“If there is a day for it, let it be today,” she muttered.

“What?” bellowed her Grangor guide. Though covered in fur, he seemed no worse for wear; the wetness slid away from him and his toothy grin triumphed over the storm.

“I had a speech prepared,” she yelled back. “I don’t think they’ll hear it!”

“May as well just do your thing!” The Grangor’s claws clasped together over his generous belly.

Lyra focused her gaze on the glowing glacier, all else falling away. She sank a deep, cold breath into her lungs and held it there, warming it, before releasing it out in a fog. “Come, Ambrosius,” she whispered, and her spellbook fled away from her cloak to float by her upturned palm. His eye rolled up as she whispered the words that appeared in runes on his pages. Another deep cold breath and the sleet sizzled when it struck her, and then her crimson fur cloak warmed and dried, then her hair, and she gathered the warmth between her hands and wished, as always, that she could hold it forever. Her arms spread wide and light flooded from her fingertips. Warm curved barriers formed at the borders of what would soon be Trostan, and the sleet fell around these wards like water around a glass globe. The clouds dissolved within her warm bulwark, the people turned joyful faces toward the sun, and the great glowing Halcyon-infused glacier began to crack and drip and flow into what would be known, for the next generation, as the twin rivers of Trostan.

To be continued…

Summer Preview: Lyra Breakdown, New Items & Gameplay Changes

  • Vainglory

Summer season introduces new items, critical gameplay changes and a new roamer who will have a major impact on hero compositions & draft strategy. Let’s dig in …

lyra_splash

LYRA ABILITIES & BREAKDOWN

Lyra uses healing and protective magic to turn enemy positions into powerful zones for her allies. Utility and defense items improve her role as a healer, while crystal items provide a devastating-but-fragile mage path.

QUICK START:

  • Learn Imperial Sigil (Ability A) first. Upgrade and overdrive it first.
  • Take Bright Bulwark (Ability B) at level 2 but upgrade it last. Only overdrive situationally.
  • Learn and upgrade Arcane Passage (Ultimate) whenever possible.

HEROIC PERK BREAKDOWN:

  • Once the first missile has locked on, the second is guaranteed to land as well, provided Lyra finishes channeling.
  • For basic-attack (on-hit) effects and weapon items, both the first and second arcane missiles are considered basic attacks.
  • Attack speed affects the channeling time, in addition to the time between shots.
  • While the second missile is much stronger, it also puts Lyra’s next attack onto a slightly longer cooldown.
  • The projectile speed on the first missile increases with attack speed.

IMPERIAL SIGIL BREAKDOWN:

  • Lyra’s healing is increased with her bonus health from items.
  • The cooldown won’t begin until the detonation occurs, either manually or after running out.
  • Because heroes consume the sigil, you can reduce the healing from an enemy Lyra by getting near her sigil and draining some damage.
  • Detonate Imperial Sigil beneath allies while moving around the map.
  • Imperial Sigil can be used for vision, but the tradeoff is that it won’t start its cooldown until it’s detonated (manually or after timing out).

BRIGHT BULWARK BREAKDOWN:

  • This stops “dash” abilities, including jumps like Joule’s leap.
  • However, it does not stop movement-speed increases like Catherine’s Mercilless Pursuit. The slow is strong enough to noticeably reduce those abilities, though.
  • When an ally pulls/pushes an enemy into the wall, the enemy will stop at the wall rather than go their full distance.
  • You can Reflex Block while snared to buy enough time to dash.
    • Lance can use Gythian Wall on overdrive to do this as well.
  • The slow and damage have a short internal cooldown (1.8 seconds). Don’t stand on top of the wall if you want to avoid getting hit again.
  • Bright Bulwark is incredibly powerful against dash-dependent heroes such as Glaive. In some situations, this can allow you to stand and fight when you would otherwise need to retreat.
  • If it’s not effective enough, consider learning the overdrive.

ARCANE PASSAGE BREAKDOWN:

  • Portals are globally visible for both teams.
  • Heroes gain a small boost of speed when exiting portals.
  • Heroes currently dashing or being affected by pulls or knockbacks will not enter a portal.
  • Heroes standing directly on top of a portal when they spawn will not be pulled through until they move off the portal and re-enter. (This is a snipe protection for Adagio and other heroes who have no means of avoiding the effect.)
  • Enemies cannot use portals until 1 second after they’ve formed, but Lyra and her allies can enter immediately.

USING LYRA’S PORTALS:

  • Both teams can use portals with no negative effects. Just walk onto them.
  • Portals are typically better for strategic map movement than going directly into an enemy team, unless you have a specific plan or comp for it.
    • If you form a portal far away from enemies and then make the destination portal away from enemies, you can prevent enemies from easily accessing portals. This can make for effective flanks, especially in combination with Bright Bulwark.
  • The initial pulse of Bright Bulwark puts affected enemies on the full portal cooldown.
    • If you need to get away from enemies, use Bright Bulwark first, then immediately portal away.
    • If you need to create a beachhead for your team, you can portal near enemies and use Bright Bulwark, allowing your allies to join you while preventing enemies from escaping.

PLAYING AS LYRA

  • Lyra is a powerful healer with a roam primary path.
  • Pair her with ranged heroes such as Celeste who like to be on the edge of fights. Lyra’s protective zones will keep them safe on the back line.
  • Or, form comps with slower heroes such as SAW, Phinn & Krul since Lyra can teleport them into the fight from a distance.
  • Lyra’s secondary path is as a crystal mage. If you’d like to try this, she has excellent synergy with Alternating Current because her perk fires two arcane missiles in a row. The perk trades her positioning for power, which can be a dangerous gambit. However, it’s incredibly powerful against fleeing enemies.
  • When you’re last-hitting, consider staying at maximum attack range. The light and heavy attack will hit at nearly the same time, making it much easier to successfully last-hit.

PLAYING VS LYRA

  • Lyra is extremely fragile even with health items due to unusually low armor and shield.
  • Focus her and burst her down. Build items accordingly.
  • Select any heroes who can get to her quickly and take her out. Taka is a great example. Even though he seems susceptible to Bright Bulwark, a sneaky Taka can often get to Lyra faster than the bulwark can go down — especially with X-Retsu.

SUMMER GAMEPLAY CHANGES

Starting in Summer season, you’ll have much more build freedom and diversity. Let’s look at why …

AMBIENT GOLD

Ironguard Contract no longer provides a gold bonus. Instead, this is replaced with an always-on mechanic affecting all heroes.

  • Ambient Gold: Whenever anyone kills a minion or monster, a nearby ally within 14 meters earns 75% of the bounty as bonus gold. If two allies are nearby, whichever hero has lower net worth earns the Ambient Gold.

In short, roam players are no longer required to buy an Ironguard Contract at the start of every single match, which opens them up to many more itemization choices. There is no requirement to eventually turn that Ironguard Contract into a Warhorn or Contraption, so many more possibilities unfold.

This change also means that roamers taking last hits will no longer have a large negative impact on a team’s gold net worth. Instead, they’ll still generate the same amount of gold since there will always be a 100%/75% split to two team members near each other.

Additionally, we expect to see many more strategies become viable from the way gold is distributed among team members. Teams may now more strategically decide where to funnel gold when they have multiple heroes reaching item breakpoints.

EXPERIENCE & GOLD RANGE

Experience and gold range are both set to 14 meters. It is still possible to hyper-level a hero … but your team will be giving up far more to do so.

Following closely behind Ambient Gold is the change to experience range. Prior to 1.19, the range where a hero could acquire experience from a kill in the jungle was 5.6, whereas the range where Ironguard Contract granted gold was 14. In addition to being a fairly invisible mechanic, this created a zone where a player could get Ironguard Contract gold while giving up experience — more commonly known as hyper-leveling.

This led to situations where a team member could end up significantly under-leveled in favor of rushing an allied hero to a potential level power-spike. While we find the practice of hyper-leveling innovative and tactically interesting, we wanted to make sure that a player was not denied experience simply from the role or hero they chose.

As such, in 1.19, we have decided to change experience range to 14, which matches the range of Ambient Gold. This means that if you are in range for Ambient Gold, you will also be in range to share experience.

If a team so chooses, they are still able to hyper-level a hero, (which would not be too surprising for the first rotation to hit a level-2 power spike). However, they would be trading that for a potential loss of 75% increase in gold from each monster or minion that is killed.

EXPERIENCE DISTRIBUTION

With the change to experience and the addition of Ambient Gold, some adjustments to experience distribution were in order.

Experience gain when multiple allies are nearby:

  • One: 100%
  • Two: 85/40%
  • Three: 65/30/30% (killer gets the larger amount).

GOLD TRICKLE

  • Gold trickle up from 4 to 5 per second.

  • Passive: After using an ability, your next 3 basic attacks in the next 6 seconds deal 75 bonus true damage to non-heroes or 20 to heroes. Can only be refreshed once every 6 seconds.
  • +2.5 Energy Recharge
  • +150 Energy
  • Energy Battery (300) + Recipe (800) = 1100

Items_stormcrown

Stormcrown

An upgraded version of the new Stormguard Banner. Deals significant but not overwhelming damage to heroes, but it’s fantastic for quickly taking down objectives.

  • Passive: After using an ability, your next 4 basic attacks in the next 6 seconds deal 140 bonus true damage to non-heroes or 35 to heroes. Can only be refreshed once every 6 seconds.
  • +30% Cooldown Speed
  • +5 Energy Recharge
  • +200 Energy
  • +150 Health
  • Stormguard Banner (1100) + Chronograph (800) + Recipe (300) = 2200

journey-boots

Journey Boots

Running fast is a lot of fun. Running fast often is even more fun.

  • Passive movement speed up from 0.5 to 0.6
  • Cooldown increased from 30 to 60
  • Passive: Damaging heroes instantly sets the cooldown to 12 seconds if it is above it.
  • Armor, Shield and Health Regen removed
  • Health down from 300 to 250

Items_war_treads

War Treads (Warhorn is now a type of Boots)

These new boots have replaced Warhorn has a team-wide mobility option. If you ever find yourself in the situation where you need to get your team into or out of a fight quickly, War Treads is a perfect purchase.

    • Activate: Nearby allies Sprint for 2 seconds (60s cooldown).
    • Passive: +0.4 Movement speed
    • Passive: Travel Boots
    • +500 Health
    • Stormguard passive removed
    • Travel Boots (1000) + Dragonheart (650) + Recipe 850) = 2500

Items_halcyon_chargers

Halcyon Chargers

A powerful new option for both running down your foes or escaping from a pursuer. Halcyon Chargers should easily be able to get you in or out of danger once. Choose this over Journey boots when prioritizing ability usage from cooldown speed.

    • Activate: Sprint for 3 seconds (50s cooldown).
    • Passive: +0.5 Movement speed
    • Passive: Travel Boots
    • +200 Health
    • +15% Cooldown Speed
    • +4 Energy Recharge
    • +250 Energy
    • Travel Boots (1000) + Void Battery (700) + Recipe (600) = 2300

Items_flare_gun

Flare Gun

Offering an early game vision option. Pick up a Flare Gun if you plan to constantly track your enemies.

  • Activate: Fire a Flare at target location. (18s cooldown).
  • +250 Health
  • Oakheart (300) + Recipe (300) = 600

contraption

Contraption

No longer building out of Stormguard Banner, Contraption now charges a bit faster and offers a bit more defensive power.

  • Cooldown up from 3 to 5 seconds (18s per charge)
  • +350 Health
  • +35% Cooldown Speed
  • +3 Energy Recharge
  • Health Regen removed
  • Stormguard passive removed
  • New Recipe: Flare Gun (600) + Chronograph (800) + Recipe (700) = 2100

OTHER

  • Kraken is no longer affected by any positive buffs (i.e. Warhorn speed boost and Adagio’s Gift of Fire).
  • Players may no longer walk into the area where the Jungle Shop resides.
  • Tap area of the jungle shop has been decreased to avoid accidental shopping during fights.
  • Flares are no longer globally visible, but brush will not inherently hide them if there’s vision on that area.
